Kerala records 2,098 cases of COVID-19 on March 17

COVID-19 was confirmed on Wednesday for 2,098 people in Kerala. The district-wise break-up of the infected are Ernakulam 255, Kozhikode 246, Kollam 230, Thiruvananthapuram 180, Kottayam 169, Malappuram 163, Pathanamthitta 156, Kannur 139, Thrissur 137, Kasaragod 131, Alappuzha 91, Palakkad 75, Idukki 67 and Wayanad 59.

COVID-19 has been confirmed in the last 24 hours for 2 people from the UK. Kovid 19 has so far been confirmed by 106 people from the UK (101), South Africa (4) and Brazil (1). Of these, 95 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

A total of 60,193 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 3.49. A total of 1,24,50,771 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

COVID-19 was confirmed to be the cause of 13 deaths in the past few days. This brought the total death toll to 4,435.
Seventy-two of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 1,879 people contracted the disease through contact. Contact source for 138 is not clear. Ernakulam 247, Kozhikode 230, Kollam 222, Thiruvananthapuram 125, Kottayam 157, Malappuram 162, Pathanamthitta 148, Kannur 104, Thrissur 134, Kasaragod 119, Alappuzha 86, Palakkad 26, Idukki 62 and Wayanad 57 were affected by the disease.

Nine health workers were affected. Kozhikode 3, Ernakulam 2, Palakkad 2, Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur 1 each were affected.

The test results of 2815 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 229, Kollam 515, Pathanamthitta 180, Alappuzha 145, Kottayam 197, Idukki 94, Ernakulam 310, Thrissur 202, Palakkad 101, Malappuram 177, Kozhikode 371, Wayanad 100, Kannur 141 and Kasaragod 53 test results were negative today. With this, 25,394 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 10,66,259 people have so far been freed from COVID-19

There are currently 1,35,904 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,31,972 are under home / institutional quarantine and 3,932 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 473 people were admitted to the hospital today.
There are two new hotspots and an area has been excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 356 hotspots.
