Dubai: The Jordanian government has officially adopted a flexible work policy for the public sector, set to take effect during the current year. The decision encompasses two primary models of flexible working: remote work and rotational office hours.
The policy, approved in line with the official and flexible working hours regulations endorsed by the Cabinet last week, aims to modernise work structures and enhance efficiency across government institutions.
In a statement on the X platform, the Public Sector Modernisation Programme clarified that remote work involves employees performing their duties from outside their official workplaces. This system was initially introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since proven to be an effective model for many government entities.
Meanwhile, rotational work refers to alternating office attendance schedules, allowing employees to share workspaces and reduce on-site density, promoting better resource management and work-life balance.
This move aligns with Jordan’s broader efforts to modernise its public sector and increase adaptability in response to technological advancements and changing work environments.
