India recorded 37,724 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing its tally to 11,92,915 . The total number of recoveries increased to 7,53,050, according to Union Health Ministry Data on Wednesday.
As many as 648 fatalities were reported which increased the death toll to 28,732.
There are 4,11,133 active cases of the coronavirus infection currently in the country.
Maharashtra remains the worst affected state with 3,27,031 cases and 12,276 deaths. The second worst-hit state, Tamil Nadu has reported 1,80,643 covid-19 cases
Thirty states and Union Territories have COVID-19 positivity rate lower than that of the national average which stands at 8.07 percent, the Center said.
The Center said that its ultimate aim was to maintain the aggressive testing and bring down the positivity rate to below 5 percent.
As per the information provided by the Indian Council of Medical Research, the total number of samples tested upto July 21 is 1,47,24,546 including 3,43,243 samples that were tested on July 21.
