His Majesty Sultan Haitham Issues Royal Decree Transferring Medical Services to Ministry of Health

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued Royal Decree No. 51/2025, effecting a key administrative change involving the transfer of the Directorate General of Medical Services from the Diwan of Royal Court to the Ministry of Health.

According to the decree:

  • Article 1 stipulates the formal transfer of the Directorate General of Medical Services from the Diwan of Royal Court to the Ministry of Health.
  • Article 2 mandates that all associated allocations, rights, obligations, and assets of the Directorate be transferred to the Ministry of Health.
  • Article 3 affirms that all employees in medical, paramedical, and administrative roles within the Directorate General of Medical Services will be moved to the Ministry of Health, retaining their job titles, grades, and financial entitlements.
  • Article 4 specifies that the decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and will come into force from the date of its issuance.

This strategic move reflects the Sultanate’s continued efforts to streamline healthcare governance and enhance the integration of medical services under the national health system.
