Muscat: The Ministry of Labor has re- indigenized in Oman. The ministry asked companies to hire Omanis as supervisors and managers at petrol stations. In the notice sent by the ministry to the companies, it is stated that the process of indigenization should be accelerated. This is a sector where hundreds of foreigners including Malayalis are employed.
The Ministry of Labor and the Oman Society for Petroleum Services have reached an agreement in 2021 to appoint locals to the post of station manager at fuel stations. In the coming days, the fuel supply companies will implement the directive of the ministry and the station managers will be only natives at the fuel stations. This will completely eliminate foreigners in this region.
The ministry has informed the companies that they should start the process of hiring natives within one month of receiving the notice. For this, the institutions can benefit from the employment initiatives provided by the Ministry of Labour. Officials also clarified that the appointment will be given to natives who have completed higher diploma or bachelor degree.
