The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) handles matters relating to visa. You can now find out more about visa validity and expiry through a section in the ICA website. There are only two things you need to have in hand for this – your passport number and the expiry date of the passport. If these are available, visa information can be readily obtained.

Emirates ID holders can easily find out about visa validity using information on the back of the identity card. Apart from your Date of Birth, the expiry date of your visa will be printed there. According to UAE law, visas must be renewed within one month of the expiry date or the person must depart the country.
People who have overstayed in the country after the expiry of their residence visa need to pay a fine of 100 AED per day, plus 100 AED service fees to be paid at the border crossing point.
UAE extends grace period for visa violators
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has extended the grace period for “all violators” of the entry and residence of foreigners’ residence law until December 31, 2020.
The extension is for those who violated the law before March 1, 2020 and they will be exempted from all fines, including National ID cards, provided they leave the country or adjust their status in the country before the end of the year.
