Dubai: A United Airlines flight bound for India made an emergency return to Newark Liberty International Airport shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue with the aircraft’s electronic cooling system.
Flight UA82, operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, had departed Newark en route to New Delhi when the pilots detected a malfunction in the electronics cooling system. Following standard protocol, the crew declared an emergency and safely returned to Newark after approximately two hours in the air.
Though the aircraft had reached cruising altitude, the technical fault posed a potential safety risk, prompting the precautionary return. All passengers and crew members were unharmed during the incident.
United Airlines coordinated closely with airport authorities to provide immediate assistance to affected passengers. Meal vouchers, hotel accommodations, and rebooking on the next available flights to New Delhi were arranged. The aircraft has been temporarily removed from service for a detailed inspection.
The airline reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and thanked travelers for their patience and cooperation.
