Dubai : Starting June 2, 2025, booking an appointment online will become mandatory for all vehicle inspection services at technical testing centres across Dubai, according to a new announcement from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The RTA has activated the Vehicle Inspection Appointment Booking feature through both the ‘RTA Dubai’ app and its official website (www.rta.ae), making it easier for motorists to schedule their inspections in advance.
“This step aims to improve service quality and reduce customer waiting times at vehicle testing centres,” the authority said in a statement.
A total of 27 testing centres across the emirate will now require pre-booked appointments, with the Tasjeel Hatta Centre being the only exception.
Walk-In Option Still Available — With a Fee
For those who prefer visiting without a prior booking, an optional walk-in service will still be available at 19 centres, subject to an additional service fee of AED 100.
However, eight centres will exclusively operate through appointment-based services, with no walk-in option. These include:
- Wasel Al Arabian Centre & Nad Al Hamar
- Shamil Al Adid, Al Muhaisnah, and Nad Al Hamar
- Al Mumayaz Vehicle Testing, Al Mizhar
- Tasjeel Al Tawar and Al Mankhool
Pilot Program Success Leads to Full Rollout
The decision follows a successful six-month pilot program launched in October 2024 at Tasjeel Al Qusais and Tasjeel Al Barsha, where online booking was tested.
According to the RTA, the pilot led to:
- A 46% reduction in average customer waiting times
- A 15% decrease in inspection centre congestion
- A 13% drop in overall vehicle testing volumes, while revenue remained stable
Customer engagement was strong, with:
- 52% using the pre-booking system
- 26% opting for walk-in services
- 22% completing other non-appointment-based services
“This move supports RTA’s ongoing commitment to improving customer satisfaction by offering convenient, smart solutions and elevating service standards across the emirate,” the authority added.
