A programme that will enable overseas remote working professionals to live in Dubai while serving their employers in their home country has been launched by the emirate of Dubai.

Remote workers and their families can now relocate on an annual basis to the emirate, which offers world-class facilities and a culture of tolerance and positivity. The safe and high-quality lifestyle along with good digital infrastructure and connectivity makes the Middle East city a favoured destination for businessmen and tourists as well as residents from over 200 nations.

Applicants should have passport with minimum six months’ validity, UAE health insurance, proof of employment from current employer and a one-year contract validity, a minimum salary of $5,000 per month. The applicant should produce a pay slip and three preceding months’ bank statements.

If the applicant is a company owner, proof of the ownership of company for one year or more, with an average monthly income of $5,000 per month, and three preceding months’ bank statements should be produced.

The programme will allow applicants to avail all services in Dubai, including utilities and schooling. Dubai’s zero income tax for individuals will also apply to them.

The cost per head is $287 (approximately Dh1,054) apart from medical insurance with valid UAE coverage and processing fee.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General, Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said: “The global pandemic has changed how we live and work…. Dubai is uniquely positioned to offer a safe, dynamic lifestyle opportunity to these digitally savvy workers and their families while they continue to work remotely, whether it is for a couple of months or an entire year.”
