Dubai: Following the recent fire at Marina Pinnacle Tower in Dubai Marina, alternative accommodation has been arranged for all displaced residents — including those without valid lease contracts.
Dubai Police clarified in a statement to Gulf News that initial temporary shelters were intended for tenants with legal tenancy agreements. However, in line with Dubai’s humanitarian crisis response policy, authorities stepped in to support those without documentation as well.
“Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defence, and the property owner are not legally obligated to house residents without valid lease contracts,” the statement said. “Nonetheless, in coordination with the Dubai Resilience Centre, alternative shelter was provided to ensure no one was left without support.”
Fire Incident and Emergency Response
The fire, which broke out late Friday in the 67-storey Marina Pinnacle Tower, led to the evacuation of over 3,800 residents. Dubai Civil Defence teams quickly brought the blaze under control within six hours and successfully rescued several pets from the premises.
Due to the timing of the incident, some residents were unaware of the danger until alerted by authorities. Thanks to swift coordination among emergency services, no injuries were reported.
Following the incident, the building’s owners association announced that temporary housing was being offered at Samaya Hotel, Deira. Residents seeking accommodation were asked to present either a title deed or valid tenancy contract.
The association also confirmed that it has initiated procedures with the building’s insurance provider to facilitate claims related to property damage and losses.
