DEWA Unveils Digital-First Approach for Asset Condition Assessment.

This pioneering approach, developed by DEWA’s Research and Development (R&D) Centre, eliminates the need for on-site sensors or hardware installation, relying solely on asset data and geographic information.

The method adheres to the ISO 9223:2012 standard for evaluating atmospheric corrosivity and conductor corrosion rates for OHL, and the IEC 60067-7 standard for power transformers, which incorporates external temperature as a predictive factor. A user-friendly interface has been designed to deliver actionable insights, facilitating data-driven decision-making that enhances operational efficiency and cost savings. This digital platform also fosters greater collaboration across DEWA’s business units.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the role of cutting-edge digital technologies in maintaining DEWA’s world-class service levels and accelerating its digital transformation.
Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, highlighted the Centre’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art technology and facilities for solution development.

The Centre’s weather modelling capabilities have generated five years of historical data, integrating weather impacts on asset metrics. This data assists maintenance and inspection teams in optimizing schedules, informs operational and investment planning, and estimates the Remaining Useful Life of assets to maximize their utility.
