Delhi win by 59 runs against RCB

Indian captain Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore was left high and dry as Delhi Capitals scored an emphatic 59-run win over them at Dubai on October 5. DC has now moved to the top of the IPL table.

After Kohli won the toss and elected to field, the Capitals posted 196/4 against RCB. Player of the Match Marcus Stoinis hit his second half-century of this season to help Delhi set the stiff target. His unbeaten 53 off 26 balls was a lifesaver for DC after they lost three wickets in quick succession. Prithvi Shaw (42), Shikhar Dhawan (32) and Rishabh Pant (37) also made worthy contributions. Shaw and Dhawan gave 68 runs for the opening wicket while Stoinis and Pant had an 89-run partnership.

For RCB, it was just not their day as Devdut Padikkal (4) and Aaron Finch (13) fell early. Kohli’s 43 off 39 balls revved up the RCB engine to an extent until paceman Kagiso Rabada felled him. The South African bowler (4-24) along with compatriot Anrich Nortje (2-22) and Indian spinners Ravi Ashwin (1-26) and Axar Patel (2-18) gave RCB batsmen stiff competition.
