CPA destroys over 2,000 illegal tobacco products in Oman’s Buraimi Governorate

MUSCAT : A total of 2,300 bags, each weighing 100 grams, were seized and destroyed after the necessary legal procedures were completed. The total weight of the confiscated items amounted to 230,000 grams. These products were prohibited for sale in Oman due to the significant health risks they pose to consumers.

The items were found to be in violation of Decision No. (256/2015) and its amendments, which regulate the sale and distribution of harmful products. The destruction of these goods highlights the CPA’s ongoing commitment to protecting public health and enforcing regulations that ensure consumer safety.

The CPA continues to monitor and oversee the markets to control and seize unauthorized goods. Legal action is taken immediately against any violators of the Consumer Protection Law.

In light of these efforts, the Authority encourages consumers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or unlawful products they encounter through the various available communication channels.
