COVID-19: Nearly 50,000 cases recorded in India in the last 24 hours

India reported the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with 49,310 people testing positive in the last 24 hours. The country also recorded 740 deaths in the same span, pushing the total death to 30,000.

Total COVID-19 positive cases stand at 12,87,945 including 4,40,135 active cases and 8,17,209 cured.

Meanwhile, the southern states are turning to be the hotbed of coronavirus pandemic

Tamil Nadu and Kerala registered a record spike in COVID-19 numbers in the last two days .

The covid-19 cases continue to soar in Tamil Nadu with 6,462 cases recorded in the last 24 hours while a whopping 60,375 tests were also conducted . The total cases in the state is 1,92,964

Maharashtra has reported 3,47,502 coronavirus cases.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR), 3,52,801 samples were tested for coronavirus on July 23 and overall 1,54,28,170 samples have been tested so far.
