COVID-19 has been confirmed for 7,834 people in Kerala on Ocober 3, while death due to the infection has been confirmed for 22.
The district-wise number of people infected on the day were Thiruvananthapuram 1,049, Malappuram 973, Kozhikode 941, Ernakulam 925, Thrissur 778, Alappuzha 633, Kollam 534, Palakkad 496, Kannur 423, Kottayam 342, Pathanamthitta 296, Kasaragod 257, Idukki 106 and Wayanad 81.
Deaths due to COVID-19 have been confirmed for Rajan (47) from Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram, Moosa Kunju (72) from Kilimanoor, Valsala (64) from Kamaleswaram, Raghunandan (60) from Vamanapuram, Devarajan (56) from Nelluvila, Vasantha Kumari (73) from Ambalathinkara, Boniface Albert (68) from Vallakkadavu, Moses (58) from Anchuthengu and KC. George (75) from Kattappana, Idukki, Abdu (64) from Vembalur, Thrissur, Koyakutty (73) from Kozhikode, Jayaprakashini (70) from Kozhikode, Ashraf (49) from Chaliyam, Ahmed Koya (74) from Arakinar and Gangadharan (78) from Payyoli, PC Jose (56), a native of Taliparamba, Kannur, P. Sudhakaran (65) from Ramanthali, Ajesh Kumar (40) from Aikkara, Sumathi (67) from Alavil, PV Chandran (68), Chandanakampara, Bhaskaran (75) of Edayannur and Mariyumma (67) of Muttathodi, Kasargod. This brings the total death toll to 813. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Of those diagnosed on the day, 49 came from foreign countries and 187 from other States. A total of 6,850 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 648 is not clear.
A total of 95 health workers were infected through contact. Thiruvananthapuram 24, Kannur 23, Pathanamthitta 11, Kozhikode 9, Ernakulam 8, Kasaragod 5, Palakkad, Malappuram 4, Kottayam 3, Thrissur and Wayanad 2 were affected by the disease. Five INHS in Ernakulam District Employees were also affected by the disease.
The test results of 4,476 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 906, Kollam 284, Pathanamthitta 131, Alappuzha 486, Kottayam 202, Idukki 115, Ernakulam 402, Thrissur 420, Palakkad 186, Malappuram 641, Kozhikode 278, Wayanad 92, Kannur 204 and Kasaragod 129 tested negative. With this, 80,818 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 1,39,620 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,51,286 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,20,218 are under home / institutional quarantine and 31,068 in hospitals. A total of 3425 people were admitted to hospitals.
During the last 24 hours, 54,563 samples were tested. So far, a total of 31,04,878 samples have been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 2,07,429 samples were sent for testing from priority groups such as health workers, guest workers and individuals with greater social contact.
There were 32 new hotspots and 12 areas have been excluded from the hotspot. This brings the total to 724 hotspots.
