West Bengal to impose total lockdown two days every week

The West Bengal government has decided to go into complete lockdown in the state for two days to fight the spike in coronavirus cases. State Home Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay said they government took this decision following the community transmission in a few areas in West Bengal.

“There is a perception of community This week, the lockdown will be in place on Thursday and Friday. The next week, it will be on Wednesday. A review meeting will be next Monday to discuss the further matter. transmission in some pockets. After talking to experts, doctors, enforcement authorities, and the police, we have decided to impose complete lockdown for two days every week in the entire state to break the chain (of transmission)”, the Home Secretary said.

This week, the lockdown will be in place on Thursday and Friday. The next week, it will be on Wednesday. A review meeting will be next Monday to discuss the further matter.

In West Bengal, at least 2,278 people tested positive for the virus. Now the tally has reached to 42,487.
