Bahrain celebrates 49th National Day

Our Correspondent

Colourful fireworks lit up the sky as Bahrain began its National Day celebration on the night of December 15. The dazzling show was organized by the Ministry of Information Affairs in cooperation with the Bahrain International Circuit, near the Salman bin Ahmed Al-Fateh Fort in the Southern Governorate and Salman Town in the Northern Governorate.

Bahrain Television will air live the fireworks which will be held in Bahrain Bay in Manama on December 16.

Founded by Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783, Bahrain has been ruled by the Al Khalifa dynasty since 1783. The National Day commemorates its establishment as a modern independent Arab and Muslim country in 1971; it also marks the anniversary of its full membership in the United Nations, and the anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne. His Majesty Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa was the first emir of modern Bahrain while his son His Majesty King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa is the King of Bahrain now.

The UAE celebrates Bahrain National Day

The UAE will celebrate the National Day of Bahrain on December 16, with official celebrations that reflect the deep relations and strategic partnership between the two countries.

There will be many events and shows, including lighting up the country’s key landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa with the Bahraini flag, festive decorations in airports, and receiving Bahraini guests with flowers and souvenirs.

UAE-Bahrain ties date back many decades, which were advanced and strengthened by their common visions and the close relations between their leaderships.

In 2020, the two countries established diplomatic relations with Israel and a peace treaty was signed at the White House in Washington in September.

The UAE and Bahrain have signed several economic and commercial cooperation agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoU), which increased the value of their trade to AED28.7 billion in 2019.

There are agreements between them in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, standards and quality assurance, agriculture, and renewable energy projects. Under MoUs related to culture and to preserve mutual historical heritage, the UAE has been supporting a project to restore heritage buildings in Bahrain.
