COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,169 people in Kerala on December 23. Outbreaks were reported in Ernakulam 953, Kottayam 642, Kozhikode 605, Thrissur 564, Malappuram 500, Kollam 499, Alappuzha 431, Pathanamthitta 406, Thiruvananthapuram 404, Palakkad 367, Wayanad 260, Idukki 242, Kannur 228 and Kasaragod 68 districts.
61,437 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 10.04. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, Trunat, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 75,08,489 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed that 22 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 2,892. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Ninety eight of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 5349 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 662 is not clear. Ernakulam 728, Kottayam 595, Kozhikode 577, Thrissur 546, Malappuram 467, Kollam 490, Alappuzha 423, Pathanamthitta 319, Thiruvananthapuram 284, Palakkad 196, Wayanad 250, Idukki 237, Kannur 176 and Kasaragod 61 were affected by contact.
Around 60 health workers were affected. Thiruvananthapuram 12, Thrissur 10, Ernakulam 9, Pathanamthitta 7, Palakkad 6, Wayanad and Kannur 5 each, Kozhikode 3, Kasaragod 2 and Kollam 1 were affected by the disease.
The test results of 4808 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 312, Kollam 186, Pathanamthitta 201, Alappuzha 270, Kottayam 530, Idukki 205, Ernakulam 709, Thrissur 420, Palakkad 356, Malappuram 570, Kozhikode 640, Wayanad 152, Kannur 151 and Kasaragod 106 tested negative today. With this, 62,802 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 6,55,644 have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,74,206 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,60,645 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,561 in hospitals. A total of 1,482 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are nine new hotspots. Kulanada in Pathanamthitta district (Cantonment zone sub ward 5), Karavaram (sub ward 10), Mudakkal (7), Pangode (3), Karakulam (sub ward 18), Anchuthengu (5), Kanjiramkulam (14) and Elappara in Idukki district (Sub Ward 13) and Peruvanthanam (13) are the new hotspots. Seven were excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 460 hotspots.
