COVID-19 has been confirmed for 3,757 people in Kerala on November 23, while 22 deaths have been confirmed as due to the infection.
The district-wise break-up of the number of affected are Malappuram 1023, Kozhikode 514, Palakkad 331, Ernakulam 325, Kottayam 279, Thrissur 278, Alappuzha 259, Thiruvananthapuram 229, Kollam 198, Kannur 144, Pathanamthitta 57, Idukki 49, Wayanad 39 and Kasaragod 32.
A total of 35,659 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 10.54. A total of 58,92,900 samples have so far been sent for testing.
The people whose deaths have been confirmed as Binukumar (48) from Manikandeshwaram, Thiruvananthapuram, Prasanna Kumar (67) from Chakka, Sarasan (54) from Kollam, Viswanathan (73) from Cherthala, Alappuzha, OG Vasu (82) from Thonnalloor, Kottayam, Mariamma (58) from Chingavanam, Kunjumuhammed (78) from Chengalam, N. Ravi (69) from Vengur, Ernakulam., NP Shaji (62) from Kanjur, AP. Gopala Krishnan (71) from Mudavoor, Thelma Xavier (56) from Mattancherry, Ansa (30) from Kaipamangalam, Thrissur, Rafeeq (44) from Kodungallur, Velayudhan (60) from Pazhukkara, Annie Chakkunni (72) from Anandapuram, AK Ayyappan (84) from Therakkad, Palakkad, Thomas Koshy (61) from Mamankara, Malappuram, Balan Nair (74) from Baluseri, Kozhikode, Laila (48) from Beypore, Helen (85) from Vaythiri, Wayanad, Sanila (63) from Kuthuparambu, Kannur and Muhammad (65) from Kumbala, Kasaragod. This brings the total death toll to 2,071. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Seventy-six of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 3,272 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 377 is not clear. Malappuram 993, Kozhikode 467, Palakkad 182, Ernakulam 235, Kottayam 276, Thrissur 264, Alappuzha 256, Thiruvananthapuram 158, Kollam 194, Kannur 112, Pathanamthitta 46, Idukki 30, Wayanad 30 and Kasaragod 29 were affected by the disease.
Thirty-two health workers were affected by COVID-19. Ernakulam 6, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur 5, Kannur 4, Kozhikode 3, Pathanamthitta, Idukki Malappuram 2 each, Kollam, Palakkad and Wayanad 1 each were affected by the disease.
The test results of 5,425 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 751, Kollam 572, Pathanamthitta 173, Alappuzha 252, Kottayam 175, Idukki 137, Ernakulam 517, Thrissur 674, Palakkad 583, Malappuram 527, Kozhikode 698, Wayanad 82, Kannur 187 and Kasaragod 97 were negative today. With this, 64,166 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 5,00,089 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 3,14,543 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,98,395 are under home / institutional quarantine and 16,148 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 1551 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are four new hotspots. The new hotspots are Udayanapuram in Kottayam district (Cantonment zone ward 4), Elanji (sub ward 12) in Ernakulam district, Mannarkkad (28) in Palakkad district and Vorkadi (1) in Kasaragod district. Seven areas have beeb excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 556 hotspots.
