3,742 affected with COVID-19 in Kerala on Feb. 8

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 3,742 people in Kerala on February 8. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Malappuram 503, Ernakulam 431, Kozhikode 403, Thiruvananthapuram 380, Kottayam 363, Kollam 333, Alappuzha 317, Thrissur 288, Pathanamthitta 244, Kannur 145, Idukki 126, Palakkad 102, Wayanad 71 and Kasaragod 36.

 

COVID-19 was confirmed within the last 24 hours by a man from the UK. Kovid-19 has so far been confirmed by 81 people who recently came from the UK. Of these, 62 tested negative. A total of 10 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

 

During the last 24 hours, 47,927 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 7.81. A total of 1,01,44,253 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

 

Sixteen deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3883. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

 

Seventy-two of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 3,379 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 264 is not clear. Malappuram 476, Ernakulam 396, Kozhikode 391, Thiruvananthapuram 276, Kottayam 337, Kollam 324, Alappuzha 313, Thrissur 278, Pathanamthitta 213, Kannur 112, Idukki 119, Palakkad 50, Wayanad 63 and Kasaragod 31 were affected by the disease.

Twenty-seven health workers were affected by the disease. Health workers from Kannur 6, Idukki 5, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad 3 each, Kollam, Ernakulam 2 each, one each in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Palakkad were affected.

 

The test results of 5959 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 248, Kollam 891, Pathanamthitta 443, Alappuzha 467, Kottayam 461, Idukki 545, Ernakulam 627, Thrissur 483, Palakkad 192, Malappuram 728, Kozhikode 410, Wayanad 181, Kannur 201 and Kasaragod 82 were negative today. With this, 65,414 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 9,02,627 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,24,759 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,14,095 are under home / institutional quarantine and 10,664 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 1,264 people were admitted to the hospitals.

There are seven new hotspots. An area is excluded from the hotspot. There are currently a total of 452 hotspots.
