COVID-19 has been confirmed for 1,140 people in Kerala on September 1, while four deaths have been confirmed as from COVID-19. The test results of 2,111 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. 394
The district-wise break-up of the infected are 227 people in Thiruvananthapuram district, 191 in Malappuram district, 161 in Ernakulam district, 155 in Kozhikode district, 133 in Thrissur district, 77 in Kannur district, 62 in Kottayam district, 42 in Palakkad district, 32 in Alappuzha district, 25 in Kollam district, 15 in Kasaragod district, 12 in Pathanamthitta district and eight in Wayanad district.
The people’s whose deaths have been confirmed as due to COVID-19 are NV Francis (76), a native of Rajagiri, Ernakulam, died on August 22; Jivakyan (64), a resident of Arai, Kasaragod, who died on August 24, K. Rameshan(45), a resident of Ravaneshwaram, Kasaragod, who died on August 24 and Soman (67), a resident of Elluvila, Thiruvananthapuram who died on August 26. This brings the total death toll to 298. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
On September 1, 14 of those diagnosed with the disease are from foreign countries and 36 from other states, while. 1,059 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 158 of them is not clear.
On September 1, 20 health workers were affected by the disease. Nine INHS in Ernakulam District Employees and two DSCs in Kannur were also affected by the disease.
There are currently 1,96,582 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of those under observation, 1,77,488 are under home / institutional quarantine and 19,094 are under observation in hospitals. A total of 1,466 people were admitted to hospitals on the day.
During the last 24 hours, 14,137 samples were tested. So far, a total of 16,97,042 samples have been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Truenaut, CLIA and Antigen Assay. As part of the Sentinel Surveillance, 1,78,270 samples were sent for testing from priority groups, including health workers, guest workers, and individuals with greater social contact.
There are 11 new hotspots and 12 areas have been excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently 580 hotspots.
