UAE Establishes National Maritime Navigation Center to Strengthen Global Maritime Leadership

The UAE has taken a strategic step toward reinforcing its position as a global maritime leader with the establishment of the National Maritime Navigation Center, recently approved by the UAE Cabinet.

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, emphasized that the move reflects the UAE’s forward-looking vision to build a robust, intelligent, and sustainable maritime ecosystem. “This center forms a cornerstone of our efforts to enhance maritime infrastructure and solidify the UAE’s status as a premier international maritime hub,” he said.

Centralized Maritime Operations and Oversight

Managed by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the center will oversee the Integrated National Maritime System, responsible for tracking and managing marine traffic across UAE waters. It will also operate the National Maritime Single Window, aimed at streamlining and expediting maritime procedures and operations.

Al Mazrouei highlighted that the center will serve as a coordination hub for all key maritime stakeholders, improving operational integration, enhancing maritime security, and boosting the sector’s contribution to the national economy.

He extended gratitude to all the teams and partners involved in the center’s creation, acknowledging their collaboration as a testament to the UAE’s spirit of unity and progress.

Enhancing Safety, Sustainability, and Policy Development

“This initiative will enhance maritime safety, combat illegal activities at sea, and promote research that will guide future maritime strategies,” Al Mazrouei said. He noted that the center would improve cross-sector collaboration, align national strategies, and ensure adherence to the highest international safety standards. It will also reduce bureaucratic hurdles, improve efficiency, and nurture the next generation of Emirati maritime professionals.

He further stressed that the establishment of the center reflects the UAE leadership’s dedication to excellence, innovation, and long-term planning in building a future-ready maritime sector.

Global Standards and Maritime Policy Alignment

Eng. Hassan Al Mansouri, Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs at the Ministry, added that the center would help align UAE maritime policies with global best practices. Equipped with smart tracking systems and advanced planning tools, the center is expected to elevate the UAE’s prominence in global maritime navigation.

“The UAE boasts world-class maritime infrastructure and a strategic location at the intersection of global trade routes,” Al Mansouri said. “The new center will reinforce the nation’s role in securing global supply chains, expanding international trade, and developing a skilled, future-ready Emirati workforce for a more sustainable maritime sector.”
