Riyadh: The United States has decided to establish nuclear cooperation with Saudi Arabia without establishing relations with Israel. The memorandum of understanding for cooperation will be handed over during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia. The US President will arrive in Saudi Arabia on the 13th of this month.
The US position was that nuclear cooperation would be possible only if Saudi Arabia established diplomatic relations with Israel. After Israel’s Gaza war and genocide caused outrage in the Arab world, Saudi Arabia had informed the US that cooperation with Israel would not be possible. In return, Saudi Arabia will provide a trillion-dollar investment to the US. In addition to nuclear cooperation, Saudi Arabia will also receive defense weapons. Huge packages will be available during Trump’s visit next week. Saudi Arabia’s goals are to generate electricity using nuclear energy and reduce carbon emissions. Israel is concerned that Saudi Arabia, like Iran, will develop nuclear weapons. According to reports, US officials will be at plants in Saudi Arabia to monitor this. The US also saw it as a challenge that Saudi Arabia would move towards cooperation with China, Russia, South Korea, and France if the US did not provide it.
