The Public Prosecution in Oman has issued a firm warning regarding illegal activities that harm public forests. This includes the cutting, uprooting, or otherwise damaging trees, bushes, and grass within these protected areas.
According to Articles 21/a and 38 of the Law on Conservation of the Environment and Prevention of Pollution, individuals found guilty of such offenses face severe penalties. These penalties may include imprisonment for up to three months, a fine of up to RO 5,000, or both.
The Public Prosecution has underscored that these measures are crucial for the protection and preservation of Oman’s natural resources. The law is designed to maintain environmental integrity and ensure that the country’s public forests remain intact for future generations.
