Tamil TV actor VJ Chitra dies by suicide in Chennai

Popular Tamil actor V J Chitra was on Wednesday found dead in a room at a hotel in Chennai’s Nazrathpettai. She was 29.

According to reports Chitra had completed the shooting of Tamil serial Pandian Stores yesterday and returned to her hotel room at around 2.30 am. Her mortal remains have been kept at Kilpauk Medical College for post-mortem.

VJ Chitra’s passing away has sent a shock wave across the Tamil entertainment industry. She was at the top of her career as a television host and actor. After the news broke, her fans took to social media to express their shock. Police officials at Nazarethpettai station have informed and are now investigating the case.

According to a report by Indiaglitz, she has been staying with her fiance Hemanth at a private hotel in Chennai. The couple got engaged a few months ago and she often took to Instagram to share pictures of the two.

After returning to her hotel room at 2.30 am on December 9, she told Hemanth that she would refresh and be back. However, she did not return for a long time. Her fiance Hemanth found that her room was locked from the inside and hence sought the help of the hotel staff for a duplicate key.

Hemanth and the hotel staff found Chithra hanging from the ceiling fan. Later, a hotel staff alerted Nazrathpettai police were and the formalities were carried out.
