Suhail Star to Bring Cooler Weather Across Gulf

Al-Khobar: The arrival of the Suhail star, which is known for heralding cooler weather, is anticipated to have a significant impact across Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. The Suhail star is a key indicator of the onset of cooler temperatures and reduced heat, marking a transition from the summer heat to cooler weather.

The Suhail star was first observed this month on the 7th in Jizan, southern Saudi Arabia. By the 24th of this month, it will be visible across the central and northern regions of Saudi Arabia.

Known for its brightness, Suhail can be seen with the naked eye. It is also known as Canopus and is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. Suhail becomes visible every year around August 24, and its visibility lasts for about 52 days. During the day, it is visible until dusk, after which it becomes more apparent during the night as temperatures start to drop.

The appearance of Suhail is traditionally associated with the arrival of cooler weather and the end of the summer season. It is a significant celestial event in the Arab world, indicating the beginning of the transition to cooler temperatures and the eventual onset of autumn.

Historically, the appearance of Suhail has been used as a reference point for weather predictions and seasonal changes. Farmers, hunters, and travelers in the region have relied on the star to gauge the timing of seasonal changes and plan their activities accordingly. The star has long been an essential element in traditional Arabian calendars and agricultural practices.
