Muscat: Khater bin Ali Al Maamari, Executive Director of Shinas Port, emphasized the port’s strategic importance, noting that it handled a total of 23,061 tons of imported and exported goods during the third quarter. Of this, 18,159 tons comprised imports, including 1,867 tons of food, 4,217 tons of building and construction materials, and 2,356 tons of general goods.
On the export front, the port managed 4,901 tons of goods, including 3,819 tons of general goods, 74 tons of building materials, and an impressive 35,380 heads of livestock and camels. Most livestock exports were directed to Gulf countries such as Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE, highlighting the port’s pivotal role in regional trade.
Al Maamari also highlighted ongoing ferry operations connecting Shinas to Khasab, Dibba, and Lima, with plans to introduce a new ferry line to neighboring countries.
Looking ahead, Shinas Port is expanding its horizons. Recently signed agreements with investors will pave the way for new projects, and planned expansions aim to streamline handling operations, accelerating trade and boosting exports.
