The Punjab government issued a detailed notification, banning all public gatherings to check the spread of Coronavirus infections in the state. The state government also restricted social gatherings to five persons and only 30 people are allowed at marriages and instead of the current 50.
The state government has deployed joint teams of police and civil administration to strictly enforce the restrictions on public gatherings. The police have been ordered to register FIRs against those found violating the rules. Under section 144, this guidelines will be imposed in all districts.
The management of marriage halls, hotels and commercial spaces will be held responsible in case the guidelines are violated and they could face suspension of their licences. According to the notification, it is mandatory to wear masks in workplaces/offices/closed places.
So far the Coronavirus tally in Punjab had crossed 7,821 with 199 deaths.
