Photos of creepy fish with human-like features mystify Twitterati

Social media users was left intrigued when a bizarre and mysterious creature was found and photographed in Malaysian waters. Much to the amusement of the netizens, images of a fish with a resemblance to human-like features especially its mouth, teeth and lips is becoming viral on social media.

The fish inside the viral pics appears to be one factor straight out of ‘Ripley’s Believe It Or Not’ with its lips and tooth that look distinctly human. Two pictures of the fish have been shared earlier this month in Twitter where it soon gained over 14,000 ‘likes’ and better than 8,000 suggestions and ‘retweets’.

According to the Rakyat Post, the fish is called triggerfish and in Malaysia, this rare-looking creature is known as “ayam laut” or “ikan jebong”.

The triggerfish belongs to the Balistidae family, they usually are scattered across the globe’s seas. According to the National Geographic, these strange-looking fish is actually known for their nasty behaviour towards intruders – including humans. In fact, the triggerfish bites divers who accidentally come too close to their nests. They use their strong tooth and extremely efficient jaws for crushing shells.
