More than 170 Omani nurses have started working at various health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman as part of the country’s plan to replace expatriates with Omanis, local media reported.
In a statement issued on September 1, the ministry said: “It has been decided to let them (Omani nurses) begin work starting Tuesday, September 1, 2020, according to the places of work they are nominated for.”
The list included the appointment of 62 nurses at Sohar Hospital, 36 nurses at Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, 32 nurses at Ibra Hospital, 18 Ja’alan Bani Bu Ali Hospital, 8 nurses at Sur Hospital, 5 in Khasab hospital, 2 nurses in Al Buraimi hospital and one nurse in Haima hospital.
COVID-19 figures
The same day, Oman’s COVID-19 battle saw a total recovery of 81,024 or 94.2 per cent with 154 patients in intensive care treatment now. The sultanate’s overall infections have reached 85,928.
The Omani Health Ministry put the country’s total deaths from COVID-19 at 689.
