Oman will lift the lockdown and relax curfew on August 8, declared the Sultanate’s Supreme Committee tasked with tackling COVID-19 related developments when it met in Muscat under the chairmanship of HE Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi, Minister of Interior, on August 5.
The Committee decided to lift the lockdown with effect from 6 am on August 8 after reviewing preliminary reports on the total lockdown between the governorates imposed from July 25 to August 8.
It also decided to cut down the 9 pm to 5 am night curfew from August 8 to 15.
After evaluating preliminary epidemiological indicators, the Committee has decided to continue the lockdown in the Governorate of Dhofar until further notice.
The Ministry of Health has stopped reporting the number of infected people during the ongoing Eid al Adha holidays in the country. A day before the Eid holidays started on July 31, the Ministry reported 79,159 cases of infection, 422 deaths and 61,421 recoveries in all.
