COVID-19 has been confirmed for 3,026 people in Kerala on September 8. Thirteen deaths have been confirmed due to COVID-19, the test results of 1,862 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.
The district-wise break-up of those who tested positive are 562 from Thiruvananthapuram district, 358 from Malappuram district, 318 from Ernakulam district, 246 from Kozhikode district, 226 from Palakkad district, 217 from Alappuzha district, 209 from Kollam district, 168 from Kottayam district, 168 from Kasaragod district, 166 from Pathanamthitta district, 160 from Kannur district, 158 from Thrissur district, 129 from Idukki district and 85 from Wayanad district.
The deceased have been identified as Nelson, 89, of Chengal, Thiruvananthapuram, Shamla Manaf, 48, of Pokanammuripparambu, Ernakulam, Prabhakaran Ashari, 55, of Parasala, Thiruvananthapuram, Usman, 55, of Puthiyapuram, Kozhikode; V. Rema, 54, of a resident of Thiruvani Temple, Kannur, Bahuleyan, 57, from Chengallore, Thrissur; Mahesh, 44, from Mulayara, Thiruvananthapuram; KE Sreedharan, 84, from Ernakulam; Muneer, 44, of Kannapuram, Kannur and Asmabi, 49, of Nadakkavu, Kozhikode. This brings the total death toll to 372. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Of those diagnosed on the day, 49 came from foreign countries and 163 from other states, while 2,723 people were infected through contact. Eighty-nine health workers were affected by the disease, while two CISF personnel from Ernakulam district were also affected by the disease.
There are currently 1,98,850 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of those under observation, 1,80,963 are under home / institutional quarantine and 17,887 are under observation in hospitals. A total of 2,076 people were admitted to hospitals on the day.
A total of 37,264 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 19,33,294 samples have been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 1,85,137 samples were sent for testing from priority groups, including health workers, guest workers, and individuals with greater social contact. There are 13 new hotspots.
