Kerala COVID-19 case count reached 89,489 on September 7, with the state reporting 1,648 fresh cases. The state also registered more recoveries than fresh cases, which is 2,246 in the last 24 hours, Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja said in a statement.
So far 66997 people recovered from the disease.
Local transmission of COVID-19, continues to rise as 1,495 of the newly reported cases contracted the virus through contact. Of this, the infection sources of 112 are unknown, the minister said.
Sixty one healthcare workers also contracted the virus.
Twenty nine people came from abroad, while 54 came from other states.
The minister also confirmed 12 more deaths on September 7, taking the official death toll to 359.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases are: 253 Thiruvananthapuram , One from Kollam, 24 from Pathnamthitta, 78 from Alappuzha, 154 from Kottayam, 4 from Idukki, 130 from Ernakulam, 128 from Thrissur, 118 from Palakkad, 187 from Malappuram, 103 from Kozhikode, 4 from Wayanad, 260 from Kannur and 134 from Kasaragod.
