Kavya Madhavan exempted from further probe in actress attack case

Kavya would continue to be a key witness in the case.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kavya Madhavan will be exempted from the probe into the actress attack case of 2017. The deadline set by the High Court for Crime Branch to wrap up the investigation pushed the probe team to leave Kavya out of the case It is also learned that pressures from the top brass might have left the investigation officers with little choice. However, Kavya would continue to be a key witness in the case.

Earlier, Crime Branch had questioned Dileep’s lawyer and others in the case. Following this, the probe team alleged that the accused and his associates destroyed key shreds of evidence in the case. They also retrieved the evidence from the actor’s phone. However, the investigation officers, including CB head S Sreejith, faced political pressure leading to the latter being removed from his post. The probe team is looking to end the case before the deadline of May 31. Meanwhile, Sarath, a friend of Dileep, will continue to figure in the accused list for destroying pieces of evidence on the actor’s phone.
