Expats caught begging in Kuwait during Ramadan to be deported, sponsors to face penalties

KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti Interior Ministry confirmed that those arrested held Arab and Asian nationalities and were caught begging outside mosques and markets. Some had entered the country on visit visas or family residency permits, while others were irregular workers with no legal employment.

Authorities have warned that legal action will also target companies and sponsors responsible for violating employment laws.
Dependent visa holders caught begging will be deported along with their sponsors.
Workers under private sector visas will be expelled, and their employing companies penalized.
Domestic workers involved in begging will face deportation, and their sponsors will be barred from obtaining future labor visas.
The ministry has also issued a strong warning against using children for begging, stating that offenders will be charged with “exploitation of minors” and face severe legal consequences. Additionally, authorities will crack down on begging via social media, with violators facing prosecution.
