Comprehensive plan to address traffic problem on Kuwait roads;

The Council of Ministers discussed a comprehensive plan for addressing the traffic problem in the country. Authorities prepared a detailed presentation, which is divided in to three phases. The first stage is for an immediate and urgent action, the second is for medium-term, and the third is a long-term plan.
The immediate and urgent solutions includes implementing flexible working hours and popularising the idea of shared transportation for school students, while the medium-term solutions includes developing new entrances and exits for some roads. The Authorities will identify the important areas with highest traffic density and provide a proposal to develop these areas. A study will be conducted on congested intersections during peak hours.


A traffic study will be conducted before approving any high-density projects and facilities .The proposed long-term solutions include a complete renovation of second, third and fourth ring roads, Damascus Street and Fahaheel Expressway .The long term proposal also includes updating the regulatory and legislative aspect of public transport operations and expedite the relevant decisions on establishing a rapid transport system (metro) to address the population growth .
