Abu Dhabi launches instalment service for legal fees and expenses

Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has introduced a new instalment service for litigation fees, notary services, and legal expenses in the emirate. The innovative initiative is part of ADJD’s ongoing efforts to improve the judicial fee payment system, making Abu Dhabi Courts the first in the region to offer such flexible financing solutions in partnership with banks and financial institutions.

Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the ADJD, stated that the new service reflects the department’s commitment to ensuring easier access to justice by simplifying procedures and alleviating financial burdens for litigants.

Judicial services

The initiative also aligns with ADJD’s broader goals of enhancing judicial services, strengthening Abu Dhabi’s legal and economic competitiveness.

Counsellor Al Abri said that improving the collection mechanisms for litigation fees marks a major step in the modernisation of the judicial system. “By offering flexible payment options in collaboration with banks and financial institutions, the service helps preserve financial liquidity for individuals and businesses, creating a more attractive environment for commercial and investment activities in Abu Dhabi,” he added.

How it works

Under the new service, litigants can pay court fees, legal expenses, notary services, expert consultations, and enforcement-related costs through manageable monthly instalments.

Financial institutions partnering with ADJD will cover the full cost of these services, allowing individuals to repay the amount over a period of up to 12 months. The payments may be interest-free or come with minimal interest, depending on the terms of the agreement with the bank or financial institution.

This flexible payment solution is designed to make judicial services more accessible, supporting Abu Dhabi’s vision of fostering a dynamic, business-friendly legal environment.
