A 24-year-old woman was strangled to death by a young man in Konnallur in Chittilanchery

Palakkad: In a shocking incident, a youth strangled a 24-year-old DYFI woman leader to death at Konnallur near Chittilancheri on Wednesday. The deceased is identified as Soorya Priya (24). Police arrested Sujeesh, a Cheekode native over the murder charges. It is learnt that Sujeesh surrendered before the police after murdering Soorya.

The incident happened around 11 am on Wednesday. Police said that Soorya Priya and Sujeesh were in a relationship. However, it is unclear what led to to the murder. Soorya Priya is a CDS member in Melarkodu Panchayath, besides being the unit secretary of DYFI in Konnallur.
