3,349 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Sept. 10

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 3,349 people in Kerala on September 10. Twelve deaths were also confirmed on the day as due to the viral infection, and the test results of 1,657 people were cured.

The district-wise list of the infected is as follows: 558 in Thiruvananthapuram, 330 in Malappuram, 300 in Thrissur, 276 in Kannur, 267 in Alappuzha, 261 in Kozhikode, 224 in Kollam, 227 in Ernakulam, 217 in Kottayam, 194 in Palakkad, 140 in Kasaragod, 135 in Pathanamthitta, 105 in Idukki and 95 in Wayanad.

The people who were confirmed to have died of COVID-19 were Baby (65), a native of Parasuvaikkal, Thiruvananthapuram; Kunjipathu (69), a resident of Parapur, Malappuram; Ummerkutty (62), a native of Ponnani, Malappuram; Saydalikutty (85), a resident of Thanalur, Malappuram;  Sarasamma (85), a native of Stadium Ward, Alappuzha;  Chinna (58), a resident of Munniyoor, Malappuram; Mohammad Ashraf (63), a resident of Perinthalmanna, Malappuram; Saleena (38), a resident of Perinthalmanna, Malappuram; Rajendran Nair (58), a resident of Amaravila, Thiruvananthapuram; Nabeesa (62), a resident of Marancheri, Malappuram; Benny Chakku (47) of Potta, Thrissur, and Mattummal Kunjabdullah (57) of Kasaragod. This brings the total death toll to 396. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Fifty of those diagnosed with the disease are from foreign countries and 165 from other States. A total of 3,058 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 266 of them is not clear.

Seventy-two health workers were affected by the disease, while four INHS in employees from Ernakulam were also affected by the disease.

There are currently 2,04,376 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of those under observation, 1,84,128 are under home / institutional quarantine and 20,248 are under observation in hospitals. A total of 2,691 people were admitted to hospitals on the day.

A total of 40,014 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 20,18,921 samples have been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 1,86,612 samples were sent for testing from priority groups, including health workers, guest workers, and individuals with greater social contact.

There are 33 new hotspots and nine areas have been excluded from the hotspot list
