<p>For the second day in a row, more than 8,000 people were confirmed with COVID-19 on October 1 in Kerala. With 8,135 people newly infected, the number of patients under treatment reached 72,339. Of those detected, 7,013 are cases of infection through contact and the source was unknown for 730 cases. A total of 105 healthcare workers were among those infected. At the same time, 2,828 patients have recovered from the disease.</p>
<p>A total of 72, 339 people were under treatment in various hospitals in the State. The total number of infected in the State crossed two lakhs, the Chief Minister said.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, 29 deaths were confirmed as due to COVID. The deceased were Abraham (62), Sharmila (52), Velayudha Kurup (92), Mohanan Nair (75), Sudhakaran Das (61), Sukumaran (73), Hashir (45), Vijayakumaran (61) and Rajan (82) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Thankamma (67), Mohanan (62) and Salim (55) from Kollam district, Manoharan (60) from Alappuzha district; K P Mohanan (62), K A Krishnan (59), Alphonsa (57), Riski Androoduram (67), Vishwambharan (92), Nabeesa (73), Kunjumon (57) and K P George (85) from Ernakulam district; Abdul Rahman (55), Balaraman (53), Bhaskaran (85), Laila (56) and Lizzie (70) from Thrissur district, and B K Khalid (64), Kumaran (62) and Khadeejumma (90) from Kasargod district. This takes the COVID related death toll in the state to 771.</p>
<p>Of the confirmed cases, 67 have come back from foreign countries and 218 from other States.</p>
<p>The district-wise figures for the new active cases were Kozhikode 1,072, Malappuram 968, Ernakulam 934, Thiruvananthapuram 856, Alappuzha 804, Kollam 633, Thrissur 613, Palakkad 513, Kasargod 471, Kannur 435, Kottayam 340, Pathanamthitta 223, Wayanad 143 and Idukki 130.</p>
<p>The count of the locally transmitted cases from the districts were Kozhikode 1,013, Malappuram 879, Ernakulam 740, Thiruvananthapuram 708, Alappuzha 774, Kollam 620, Thrissur 603, Palakkad 297, Kasaragod 447, Kannur 279, Kottayam 316, Pathanamthitta 135, Wayanad 135 and Idukki 67.</p>
<p>The numbers of the infected healthcare workers district-wise were Thiruvananthapuram 29, Kannur 26, Ernakulam 16, Kottayam 8, Kasaragod 6; Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode and Wayanad 5 each, Malappuram 2, and Kollam, Alappuzha and Palakkad one each. Two INHS personnel in Ernakulam district were also infected by Coronavirus.</p>
<p>The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative were Thiruvananthapuram 363, Kollam 213, Pathanamthitta 82, Alappuzha 191, Kottayam 148, Idukki 70, Ernakulam 226, Thrissur 290, Palakkad 113, Malappuram 322, Kozhikode 333, Wayanad 59, Kannur 129 and Kasaragod 289. So far, 1,31,052 people have recovered from COVID in the State.</p>
<p>There were currently a total of 2,43,107 persons under observation in various districts of the state, 2,12,849 under home or institutional quarantine and 30,258 in hospitals. 3,150 people were admitted to hospitals.</p>
<p>A total of 59,157 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Till now, a total of 29,85,534 samples have been sent for testing, including 2,05,349 samples from priority groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance.</p>
<p>Fourteen hotspots were declared on the day while 18 areas were excluded from the list. There are now 656 hotspots in Kerala.</p>

<p>Kerala recorded the highest ever number of COVID-19 positive cases when 8,830 people were confirmed with the virus on September 30, while 23 deaths were confirmed as due to COVID-19.  A total of 3,536 patients suffering from the infection were cured on the day, while 123 health workers were infected on the day.</p>
<p>The total number of people who died from coronavirus touched 742 on the day.</p>
<p>The district-wise break-up of the number of infected was Ernakulam 1,056, Thiruvananthapuram 986, Malappuram 977, Kozhikode 942, Thrissur 808, Kollam 812, Palakkad 631, Alappuzha 679, Kannur 519, Kottayam 442, Kasargod 321, Patanamthitta 286, Wayanad 214 and Idukki 157.</p>

Shailaja has informed that Covid-19 has been confirmed in 1,569 persons in Kerala today. 1,354 people were infected through contact and the source of infection was not traceable in 86 cases. 56 persons are those who have arrived from foreign countries and 132 from other states. Meanwhile, 1,304 patients have recovered from the disease today.<br />
10 deaths were also reported today taking the death toll in the state to 139. The deceased have been identified as Lakshmi (74), Nirmala (65), Shirley (62), Lalitha (70), M Surendran (60) and Stanzilas (80) from Thiruvananthapuram district, Moiduppa (82), from Malappuram district, Thankappan (70) and Rukia (60) from Ernakulam district, and George (65) from Thrissur district. Further deaths will be confirmed after testing at NIV, Alappuzha.</p>
<p>The district-wise breakup of the infected is as follows: 310 people from Thiruvananthapuram district, 198 in Malappuram district, 180 from Palakkad district, 114 in Ernakulam district, 113 from Alappuzha district, 101 in Kottayam district, 99 from Kozhikode district, 95 in Kannur district, 80 from Thrissur district, 75 in Kollam district, 58 from Idukki district, 57 in Wayanad district, 49 from Kasaragod district and 40 in Pathanamthitta district.</p>
<p>The district wise figures of local transmission are 300 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 173 in Malappuram district, 161 in Palakkad district, 110 in Ernakulam district, 99 in Alappuzha district, 86 in Kottayam district, 85 in Kozhikode district, 68 in Thrissur district, 65 in Kollam district, 63 in Kannur district, 56 from Wayanad district, 34 from Kasaragod district, 31 from Idukki district and 23 from Pathanamthitta district.</p>
<p>In addition, 27 healthcare workers were also infected, eight in Kannur district, six in Malappuram district, five in Thiruvananthapuram district, four in Kozhikode district, one each in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Palakkad and Kasaragod districts.</p>
<p>The number of patients who tested negative today are 424 from Malappuram district, 199 from Thiruvananthapuram district, 111 in Kozhikode district, 91 from Palakkad district, 87 from Ernakulam district, 75 in Kannur district, 66 from Alappuzha district, 53 from Thrissur district, 51 in Kasaragod district, 48 from Kottayam district, 33 from Wayanad district, 32 in Pathanamthitta district, 26 from Kollam district and eight in Idukki district. At present, there are 14,094 patients undergoing treatment while 26,996 people have so far been cured of COVID.</p>
<p>There are currently 1,55,025 people under surveillance in various districts of the state, 1,42,291 under home or institutional quarantine and 12,734 in hospitals. 1,479 persons were hospitalised on the day.</p>
<p>During the last 24 hours, 31,738 samples were tested. A total of 11,20,935 samples have so far been sent for testing and of these, test results of 8,220 samples are yet to come. As part of the Sentinel Surveillance, 1,45,064 samples were collected from priority groups such as health workers, guest workers and people with greater social contact and the results of 1,645 are in process. </p>
<p>On August 14, 18 new hotspots were declared and four places were removed from the list. There are 555 hotspots in Kerala now.</p>

The deceased are Lizzie Sajan (55) from Thiruvananthapuram district, Radhakrishnan (80) from Kozhikode district and Abdul Rahman (63) from Malappuram district.  The Covid related death toll in the State is now 129. Further deaths will be confirmed after testing at NIV, Alappuzha.</p>

<p>The district-wise tally of the infected are as follows: 434 people from Thiruvananthapuram district, 202 each in Palakkad and Malappuram districts, 115 from Ernakulam district, 98 in Kozhikode district, 79 from Kasaragod district, 75 each in Pathanamthitta and Thrissur districts, 74 from Kollam district, 72 in Alappuzha district, 53 from Kottayam district, 31 in Idukki district and 27 each from Kannur and Wayanad districts are those who tested positive for Coronavirus.</p>

<p>The district-wise statistics of those infected through contact are 428 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 180 in Malappuram district, 159 in Palakkad district, 109 in Ernakulam district, 83 in Kozhikode district, 73 in Thrissur district, 71 in Kasargod district, 64 in Kollam district, 59 in Alappuzha district, 44 in Pathanamthitta district, 43 in Kottayam district, 27 in Wayanad district, 21 in Kannur district and 19 in Idukki district.</p>

<p>Fifteen healthcare workers were also infected; five in Thiruvananthapuram district, four in Malappuram district, two each in Pathanamthitta and Kozhikode districts, and one each in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Five ITBP personnel in Alappuzha district and four INHS personnel in Ernakulam district are among those infected.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The details of those who recovered from the disease and tested negative are 197 persons from Thiruvananthapuram district, 109 in Ernakulam district, 73 from Kollam district, 70 in Alappuzha district, 67 from Palakkad district, 61 in Malappuram district, 47 from Thrissur district, 30 in Wayanad district, 28 from Kasaragod district, 25 in Kannur district, 22 from Idukki district, 17 in Kottayam district, 12 from Kozhikode district and eight in Pathanamthitta district. Till date, 25,692 persons have been cured of COVID and 13,839 patients are still undergoing treatment.</p>

<p>There are currently 1,53,061 people under observation in various districts of the state. Of those, 1,40,378 are under home or institutional quarantine and 12,683 are in hospitals. 1,670 persons were admitted to the hospital on August 13.</p>

<p>The numbers of tests being conducted daily have been increased. 31,270 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. A total of 10,87,722 samples have so far been sent for testing and the results of 5,999 samples are yet to come. 1,43,085 samples were collected from priority groups, including health workers, guest workers, and people with greater public exposure as part of the Sentinel Surveillance and 1,193 results are still awaited.</p>

<p>There are 16 new hotspots in the State while 12 were excluded from the list taking the total number of hotspots to 544.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the highest number of COVID-19 infection on a single day in Kerala, 1.420 people tested positive for the infection on August 8. Of the total infected, 1,216 people got the infection through contact and the source of infection for 92 people are not known.</p>
<p>Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that this was the highest single-day count of both positive cases and people being cured. A total of 1,216 people were infected through contact and the source of infection of 92 was unknown. Sixty people have arrived from overseas and 108 from other states; 30 Healthcare workers are among those infected.</p>
<p>The Chief Minister offered his condolences on the four deaths due to Covid reported in the State. The deceased are Vinod Kumar (41) from Kasargod district, Sulaikha (63) from Kozhikode district, Chellappan (60) from Kollam district and Purushothaman (84) from Alappuzha district. This brings up the death tally to 106.</p>
<p>The Chief Minister also informed that the number of COVID cases are increasing in Thiruvananthapuram district with a high number of contact cases. “Today, 485 people were diagnosed with the disease in the district and of these, 435 were through contact. It shows that strong intervention is needed in the state capital to control the infection and stringent restrictions should be continued.”</p>
<p>The district-wise figures of the active cases from other districts are 173 from Kozhikode district, 169 in Alappuzha district, 114 from Malappuram district, 101 in Ernakulam district, 73 from Kasaragod district, 64 in Thrissur district, 57 from Kannur district, 41 each in Kollam and Idukki districts, 39 from Palakkad district, 38 in Pathanamthitta district, 15 from Kottayam district and 10 in Wayanad district.</p>
<p>The details of the contact cases in other districts are 152 in Kozhikode district, 135 in Alappuzha district, 99 in Malappuram district, 92 in Ernakulam district, 67 in Kasargod district, 51 in Thrissur district, 37 in Kollam district, 26 in Idukki district, 25 in Kannur district, 23 in Palakkad district, 21 in Pathanamthitta district, 12 in Kottayam district and eight in Wayanad district.</p>
<p>The infected healthcare workers are nine in Kannur district, seven in Thiruvananthapuram district, four in Kasaragod district, three each in Alappuzha and Kozhikode districts, two in Ernakulam district and one each in Pathanamthitta and Malappuram districts. Three KSE employees in Thrissur District, two DSC personnel in Kannur District and an INHS personnel in Ernakulam district were also infected.</p>
<p>The district-wise figures of those who tested negative are 777 from Thiruvananthapuram district, 165 in Malappuram district, 110 from Kozhikode district, 100 in Alappuzha district, 91 from Kollam district, 78 in Pathanamthitta district, 72 from Thrissur district, 62 in Ernakulam district, 60 from Kottayam district, 55 in Wayanad district, 47 from Kannur district, 46 in Palakkad district, 33 from Kasaragod district and 19 in Idukki district.</p>
<p>So far, 20,866 persons have been cured of coronavirus in the State and at present, 12,109 patients are undergoing treatment.</p>
<p>There are 1,48,241 people under observation across the state, 1,36,307 in home or institutional quarantine and 11,934 in hospitals. 1,665 people were admitted to the hospital today.</p>
<p>27,714 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. Till now, 9,63,632 samples have been sent for testing and the results 6,777 samples are awaited. 1,36,336 samples were collected from high public exposure groups as part of the Sentinel Surveillance and the results of 1,524 samples are yet to come.</p>
<p>On August 8, 13 new hotspots were declared while 21 places were exempted. There are currently 498 hotpots in the State.</p>

<p>Giving details, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, “The total number of confirmed cases in the State is now 11,659. Of the cases detected today, 364 are contact cases, 116 are those who came back from overseas and 90 from other states. 19 healthcare workers, one personnel each of DSC and Fire Force was also infected. There were two Covid related deaths, 70-year-old Arul Das and 60-year-old Babu Raj, both from Thiruvananthapuram districts. At the same time, 204 patients have recovered from the disease today.”<br />
The district-wise figures of the positive cases are 173 persons from Thiruvananthapuram district, 53 in Kollam district, 49 from Palakkad district, 44 in Ernakulam district, 42 from Alappuzha district, 39 in Kannur district, 29 from Kasaragod district, 28 each in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts. 26 each from Kozhikode and Wayanad districts, 21 in Thrissur district, 19 from Malappuram district and 16 in Kottayam district.<br />
One hundred and fifty-seven people in Thiruvananthapuram district, 42 from Kollam district, 34 from Ernakulam district, 24 in Alappuzha district, 22 each from Kozhikode and Kasaragod districts, 17 in Idukki district, 14 from Pathanamthitta district, 11 in Wayanad district, eight from Thrissur district, five in Kannur district, four from Palakkad district, three in Malappuram district and one in Kottayam district are those infected through contact. Of these cases, the contact source of 36 is unknown.</p>
<p>The infected health workers are seven in Thiruvananthapuram district, four each from Ernakulam and Idukki districts, two in Kottayam district and one each from Alappuzha and Malappuram districts.</p>
<p>Thirty-eight patients from Kannur district, 36 in Alappuzha district, 26 from Malappuram district, 25 in Palakkad district, 18 from Pathanamthitta district, 11 in Thrissur district, nine each from Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Kasaragod districts, seven in Thiruvananthapuram district, six each from Kottayam and Idukki districts, and four in Wayanad district are those who tested negative on July 18. So far, 5,201 patients have been cured of Coronavirus and 6,416 patients are presently under treatment.</p>
<p>There are a total of 1,73,932 persons under surveillance in various districts of the state. 1,67,091 are under home or institutional quarantine and 6,841 are under observation in hospitals. 1,053 people were admitted to the hospital.</p>
<p>During the last 24 hours, 18,967 samples were tested. A total of 5,14,140 samples have so far been sent for testing and the results of 7,016 samples are awaited. Of these, 92,312 samples were collected from high-risk groups of people with more public exposure as part of Sentinel Surveillance and 87,653 samples were negative.</p>
<p>Twenty new places were designated as hotspots on July 18 while six were exempted from the list. Currently, there are 299 hotspots in Kerala.</p>

<p>Fifteen health workers have been infected. One hundred of thirty-three people were cured of the infection. There are not 6029 people undergoing treatment in hospitals, and 285 hotspots in the State.</p>
<p>The district-wise number of infected on the day are as follows: 246 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 115 in Ernakulam district, 87 in Pathanamthitta district, 57 in Alappuzha district 47 in Kollam district, 39 in Kottayam district, 32 each in Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kasargod districts, 31 in Palakkad district, 28 in Wayanad district, 25 in Malappuram district, 11 in Idukki district and nine in Kannur district.</p>
<p>Community spread has been declared in Poonthura and Pulluvila in Thiruvananthapuram district, the first in the country.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the highest number of COVID-19 cases on a single day so far in Kerala, 339 new active cases of COVID-19 were detected in Kerala on July 29, while 149 patients under treatment have recovered. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, “The rate of infection is going up and along with that the number of people infected with the virus through contact is also increasing. Of the cases confirmed today, 117 are those who came back from abroad and 74 from other states. 133 are cases of local transmission and there are seven cases where the source of infection is not known.”</p>
<p>The district-wise figures of those who tested positive are 95 persons from Thiruvananthapuram, 55 in Malappuram, 50 from Palakkad, 27 in Thrissur, 22 from Alappuzha, 20 in Idukki, 12 from Ernakulam, 11 from Kasargod, 10 in Kollam, eight each from Kozhikode and Kannur, and seven each in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Wayanad.</p>
<p>The country-wise details are UAE-40, Saudi Arabia-37, Kuwait-19, Qatar-13, Oman-4, South Africa-1, New Zealand-1, Uzbekistan-1 and Bahrain-1. The state-wise split up is Karnataka 19, Maharashtra 14, Jharkhand 11, Telangana 9, Tamil Nadu 7, West Bengal 3, Odisha 3, Rajasthan 2, Delhi 2, Bihar 1, Andhra Pradesh 1, Gujarat 1 and Chhattisgarh 1.</p>
<p>Ninty-two people in Thiruvananthapuram district, 23 from Malappuram district, 10 in Alappuzha district, four each from Kollam and Ernakulam districts, three in Thrissur district and one each from Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode, Palakkad and Kottayam districts are those infected through contact.</p>
<p>In addition, four healthcare workers were also infected, three in Thrissur district and one from Idukki district. One BSF personnel in Thrissur district, a Defence Service Canteen employee from Kannur district and two ITBP personnel in Alappuzha district were also among those infected.</p>
<p>The district-wise figures of those who tested negative on July 9 are 29 patients from Thrissur, 17 in Palakkad, 16 from Kannur, 15 in Ernakulam, 13 from Kasargod, 10 in Kollam, nine from Thiruvananthapuram, eight each in Kottayam and Idukki, seven each from Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha, six in Malappuram, three from Wayanad and one in Kozhikode.</p>
<p>The total number of confirmed cases of COVID in Kerala is 6,534 and 2,795 patients are still undergoing treatment. Till now, 3,710 people have been cured of Coronavirus infection. There are currently 1,85,960 people in quarantine in different districts of the state, 1,82,699 in home or institutional quarantine and 3,261 in hospitals. 471 people were admitted to the hospital on July 9.</p>
<p>Interacting with the media through video conferencing, the Chief Minister said, “There is an increasing likelihood of multiple clusters being formed in the cities leading to super spreads. We see this happening in Poonthura in our state. According to a new report by the World Health Organization, the risk of contracting the disease has increased dramatically. Therefore, the gathering of people cannot be allowed under any circumstances. People should live in places with good air circulation and proper ventilation. To identify more cases, the number of tests being conducted has been increased significantly.”</p>
<p>In the last 24 hours, 12,592 samples were analysed. A total of 3,07,219 samples have been sent for testing and the results of 4,854 samples are yet to come. In addition, 66,934 samples were collected from high-risk priority groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance and 63,199 samples were negative.</p>
<p>On July 9, six new places were designated as hotspots while two were exempted. There are presently 181 hotspots in Kerala.</p>

One hundred eighteen new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the State on June 28 while 42 patients who were undergoing treatment for the same have recovered, according to Kerala’s Minister for Health K.K. Shailaja.<br />
Twenty=six people from Kannur district, 17 in Thrissur district, 10 each from Kollam and Alappuzha districts, nine in Thiruvananthapuram district, seven each from Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts, six in Kasargod district, five each from Kottayam, Malappuram and Wayanad districts, four each in Idukki and Palakkad districts and three from Pathanamthitta district are those who tested positive for Coronavirus.<br />
Among the newly detected cases, 68 have arrived from overseas (Kuwait &#8211; 19, UAE &#8211; 15, Oman &#8211; 13, Saudi Arabia &#8211; 10, Qatar &#8211; 4, Bahrain &#8211; 4, Nigeria &#8211; 2 &#038; Ghana &#8211; 1) and 36 have returned from other States (Karnataka-10, Delhi-7, Maharashtra-7, Tamil Nadu-5, Telangana-2, Chhattisgarh-2, Jammu &#038; Kashmir-1, Rajasthan-1 &#038; Gujarat-1). Fourteen people got infected through contact. Five people in Malappuram district (all employees of a private hospital), four from Kottayam district and one each in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Kannur and Palakkad districts are those infected.<br />
Seven patients from Kozhikode district, six in Idukki district, five each from Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kasargod districts, three in Palakkad district, two from Pathanamthitta district, and one each in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Wayanad and Kannur districts have tested negative on the day. So far, 2,150 persons have been cured of COVID-19 and 2,015 patients are still under treatment.<br />
There are at present 1,75,734 people under observation in various districts of the State. Of these, 1,73,123 are under surveillance at their homes or under institutional quarantine centres and 2,611 are in isolation at hospitals. Three hundred and fifity-five people were hospitalised on the day.<br />
During the last 24 hours, 5,406 samples were examined. A total of 2,20,821 samples have been sent for testing and of these, the results of 4,041 samples are expected. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 45,592 samples were collected from priority groups, such as health workers, guest workers and those with high public contacts and 43,842 samples were negative.<br />
Thirteen new places were declared as hotspots taking the total number of hotspots in Kerala to 124.</p>
