International Trade Flow System to bolster non-oil sector diversification for SMEs, corporates and MNCs.

To launch Global Multi-Asset Exchange (Stocks, Commodities, and Currency) project, a new model focusing on increasing trade.

ABU DHABI:

IBMC, the UAE-based financial services consultancy and eMarket Place Trade Flow Service Providers, has launched an innovative Integrated International Trade-Flow System, an innovative platform connecting 100+ countries and 30+ sectors to empower economies, industries and corporates supporting their projects and trades.

The project was launched as part of IBMC Vision 2025 at a ceremony held at Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi, in the presence of ministers, diplomats, senior representatives of MNCs, large corporate entities, and invited guests from industries.

The system will enable Gulf countries to boost growth in the non-oil sector and empower SMEs, large and medium-sized corporates and MNCs to explore international markets using the best-in-class industry practices. A streamlined five-step compliance procedure has also been prescribed to enhance international trust for attracting global partners and investors.

The Industries Integrated International Trade-Flow System has over 15 corporations empaneled from more than 15 industry sectors.

As part of its Vision 2025, IBMC will also launch a global multi-assets exchange (stocks, commodities and currency), a unique model from the UAE, designed to increase exports, imports and re-exports by utilizing highly compliant stock and commodity exchange platform, enabling dual listing and commodity listing.

The Chief Guest, H.E. Humaid Ben Salem, Secretary General of the Federal Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman, International Chamber of Commerce and Industry officially inaugurated IBMC’S Industries International Trade-Flow System in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Hamed, Group Chairman of IBMC International; Mr. Sajith Kumar P.K., Group CEO & Managing Director of IBMC; and H.E. Hon. Henry Jons Amuli MP, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Papua New Guinea, and diplomats and special guests.

Papua New Guinea was the first country to launch into the Industries Integrated International Trade-Flow System from the gold industry.

HummingbirdEV USA was the first corporation from the EV Industry, followed by SUSTAINOLOGY UAE for Carbon Credit.

The Industries Integrated International Trade-Flow System will prepare corporates in the Gulf countries to understand international norms and procedures for using the upcoming Exchange, thus enhancing their international business capabilities.

“For the past five years, IBMC has continuously worked towards supporting businesses of all classes, from startups to MNCs and listed companies, through various corporate awareness and empowerment programs and systems. This aligns with the changing economic scenario in the Gulf economies, focusing on non-oil growth in the post-Covid pandemic times to expand their markets internationally,” said Mr. Sajith Kumar, Group CEO & MD, the Strategist, Investment Manager & International Compliance Officer.

“We are proud to introduce yet another innovative system to the global economies, industries, and corporates to empower them in the global open markets,” said HE Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Hamed, Group Chairman, industrialist, and influential UAE National in the UAE’s private sector.

Another initiative is the creation of sectoral companies. This initiative supports industries by adhering to the best industry practices and international standards, providing additional assistance to economies in empowering their industries with updated practices and policies.

HE Humaid Ben Salem, Secretary General of UAE Chambers and Chairman of ICC UAE, expressed his support for the initiative.

“Having successfully concluded five years of visionary planning, IBMC is now entering the implementation phase by launching the Industries Integrated International Trade-Flow System, a pioneering system from the private sector in the UAE,” said Mr. Sajith Kumar.

The projects under the IBMC Vision have been started jointly under the leaderships of HE Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Hamed, and Mr. Sajith Kumar P.K. The projects have been structured and implemented with a highly professional international team under the leadership of Mr. Sajith Kumar.

The IBMC Vision 2022 Project Structuring Phase, a five-year endeavor, commenced in 2017 and culminated successfully in December 2022. This project was dedicated to bolstering the diversification of the non-oil sector in the Gulf countries, primarily through the UAE. Its overarching aim was to extend significant opportunities from the Gulf region to the global business community, including traders and investors. IBMC adopted a strategic and innovative approach to empower a wide spectrum of businesses, ranging from startups and SMEs to multinational corporations. It sought to provide diverse opportunities for business, trade, and investment diversification. The project was propelled by a series of major and creative steps, including initiatives focused on industry awareness, corporate empowerment, and economic enablement.

IBMC’s Trade Flow emerged as a prominent portal that facilitated connections within the global business class during EXPO 2020 through the pavilions of respective countries. During EXPO 2020, IBMC actively supported participating countries in hosting economic forums, industry events, and industry roundtable discussions, aiming to attract business class, traders, and investors to their respective nations.

Al mahatta qadima heya Noor Bank. The next station is Noor Bank,” announces the male voice in Arabic followed by English equally at ease in both languages. Saed Duzdar stresses on the double vowel and brings into Noor a little of the magic and romance of the Arabian Nights tales. The voice is reassuring for a first-time passenger of the Dubai Metro and a familiar companion for the regular commuter. As I look forward to each station announcement while enjoying the view outside on the elevated section of the journey, there is never a dull moment in the Dubai Metro, the world’s longest driverless metro rail system.

From Etisalat to Noor Bank, changing trains at Union and passing the Burj Khalifa station, my first ride on the Dubai Metro to meet a friend in Jumeirah remains unforgettable. Since then, the occasional metro ride alone, usually in the Women & Children carriage, has been relaxing and fun – watching carefree shoppers, chattering student crowd and of course, and preoccupied working women on their way to work. A sea of humanity quietly leaves the carriage at each air-conditioned station, up the steps or elevator and out into the sun.
“

The cacophony that characterised the Chennai local trains and Metro was endearing in its own way – women selling flowers, vegetables, the blind selling trinkets or singing a mournful number and the random fishmonger sitting on the train floor with her basket on her way home – but the flawless precision and absolute cleanliness with which the Dubai Metro functions make me want no more. No eating, chewing gum or drinking water in this automated Metro that is the pride of the emirate of Dubai.

On September 9, 2020, the Dubai Metro celebrated its 11th birthday. As always, residents remembered with gratitude the grit and vision of the HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the Vice-President of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, who made this dream possible.

Parvathi S., a college-goer who often uses the train service, says: “Dubai metro will always have a very special place in my heart. It has made life simple, comfortable and so much easier. For a student like me, Dubai Metro has always been a life-saver. Reaching school, university or any place in Dubai has become very easy thanks to the metro service. The happiness of getting a seat during a long ride is one of those little moments that make the metro journey memorable. Thank you Dubai Metro for your 11 years of exemplary service.”

A good many secondary school children who attend schools near the train stations patronise the Dubai Metro too. And for teens like my son, wanting to chill out with friends on the weekend, the Metro provides a safe and economical means of transport. In fact, it is part of the adventure too. For tourists and residents alike, a Metro ride adds to the experiences that make up Dubai. It can easily be called the city’s most popular mode of public transport.

Over 1.5 billion riders have used the Dubai Metro until now, with a daily ridership of 650,000 reported last year. The number of Dubai Metro riders on its Red and Green Lines reached 202.98 million riders in 2019. Burjuman and Union stations, interchange stations on the Red and Green Lines, accounted for 12.76 million and 10.6 million riders respectively.

Route 2020, a 15km extension of the Red Line to the Expo 2020 site, with seven stations in between, was recently inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed.

“The UAE has exceptional goals and ambitions. Today, we are moving with confidence, determination and a clear vision to attain the highest levels of excellence in various fields. Our objective is to provide people everything that ensures their wellbeing, stability and happiness and establish a prosperous future for the coming generations,” he said at the launch.

It was on 09/09/09 that Sheikh Mohammed gave the green signal to the Dubai Metro when he swiped the first Nol (fare) card to embark on a historic ride on the Red Line from Mall of the Emirates station to Rashidiya at 9:09:09 p.m. At its first stop, Dubai International Financial Centre or DIFC, the good Ruler placed a commemorative gold coin at the station. Since then, the shiny driverless carriage has been transporting residents and tourists across the emirate belying predictions that a city of cars and fast lanes will not find the public transport attractive. Today, many prefer to leave their cars parked at home or at the Park-and-Ride terminals and take a hassle-free and reliable metro ride to their destinations.

It saves them the hassle of navigating through peak hour traffic jams, or the fear of flouting a traffic rule and incurring a fine. Moreover, there is company in a train carriage unlike in a car – though in pandemic times, human company induces fear and social distancing is the order of the day.

When COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill, the Dubai Metro, like all public transport in the UAE, was completely halted for a two-week period in April. The National Sterilisation drive disinfected 47 stations and 79 trains of Dubai Metro before train services resumed on April 26. New safety and preventive measures are in place now, which instil confidence in the commuter.

“Al abwab toglaq. Doors closing,” reminds the much-loved voice of the metro as I enter a carriage, gloved and masked, for a Friday jaunt.

Expo 2020’s global innovation and partnership programme has announced an additional support to innovators from around the world facing financial hardship as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Expo Live has set aside US$1 million in an Emergency Relief Fund from its global innovation and impact grant programme to support innovators who are facing immediate financial hardship because of the ongoing pandemic, WAM reported.

Grantees that have received ERF assistance include InvestEd, a Filipino fintech start-up that provides loans and financial training to low-income students, allowing them to complete their college education. Nearly half of InvestEd’s student borrowers are now unemployed due to COVID-19 and the organisation has increased coaching services to help them find other job opportunities. Thanks to the additional Expo Live emergency funds, the team has created new financial products that will enable the students to continue their education remotely.

ERF recipients also include UAE-based NOW Money, the first fintech in the Gulf region to rely on mobile banking technology to provide accounts, financial inclusion and a range of low-cost remittance options to low-income, migrant workers, and Attollo SE, a Canada-based edtech enterprise that develops talking stickers designed to provide early literacy learning for children.

Attollo helped increase health and safety awareness about the coronavirus, producing recordings in multiple languages and disseminating them through a phone app and the talking stickers technology.

Acting in solidarity with communities around the world, the ERF supports a wider commitment by Expo 2020 and the UAE to advance humanitarian goals and build a brighter future for all. Since the start of the pandemic, the UAE’s active role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic has included more than 1,200 tonnes of aid sent to 107 countries, reaching more than 1.2 million healthcare workers.

Expo Live has awarded emergency grant funding between US$50,000-100,000 to 15 Global Innovators from 13 countries. The awards were made following a comprehensive evaluation process, including assessment of strategy, the use of current funds and support to local communities.

Expo 2020, which will continue for six months from October 1, 2021, will highlight and promote initiatives such as Expo Live, to shape a better world.
