Moscow : During the state visit of His Majesty the Sultan, President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech underscoring the enduring and evolving relationship between the two nations. Highlighting His Majesty’s historic role in signing the 1985 agreement that established diplomatic relations, President Putin said, “You are a well-known figure to us in Russia… This year, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of these relations.”
He emphasized that bilateral communications are progressing, supported by a “package of agreements” developed ahead of the visit, aimed at reinforcing legal and treaty frameworks for future cooperation.
President Putin pointed to significant opportunities in areas such as trade, transit, transport, mutual investment, agriculture, and energy. “Companies in Russia are interested in developing this cooperation with the Sultanate,” he noted, referencing the ongoing supply of agricultural goods to Oman and potential collaborations in the energy sector.
The Russian President also acknowledged His Majesty’s meeting earlier in the day with Russian business leaders and welcomed continued efforts between both countries’ sovereign wealth funds and foreign ministries.
Looking ahead, President Putin expressed optimism about Oman’s participation in the first-ever Russian-Arab summit, stating, “If you have the opportunity to participate… we would be happy to receive and see you.”
