Oman, Russia sign 9 key agreements including visa waiver

MOSCOW: The high-profile ceremony, held as part of His Majesty the Sultan’s state visit to the Russian Federation, included the signing of an agreement on mutual visa exemption, easing travel between the two nations and fostering closer people-to-people ties.

A protocol on economic and technical cooperation was also signed, laying the foundation for a joint economic committee that aims to enhance bilateral trade, investment, and technical collaboration.

Additionally, nine memoranda of understanding were signed in a wide range of fields, reflecting the growing depth and breadth of Oman-Russia relations. These included cooperation on climate change and low-carbon development, transport and transit, combating money laundering and terrorism financing, and fisheries sector development.
Further agreements were inked to strengthen ties in media, information exchange, and diplomatic training, including partnerships between the Omani and Russian diplomatic academies. Institutional collaboration was also established between the Royal Academy of Administration and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, as well as between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Russia’s Roscongress Foundation.
