Liwa Date Festival to Begin from July 14 in Al Dhafra

Abu Dhabi : The Liwa Date Festival, one of the UAE’s most prominent cultural celebrations, will be held from July 14 to 27 in Al Dhafra. The festival, which celebrates the rich agricultural heritage of the Emirates, will see participation across 24 competition categories, including best date bunch, most beautiful and delicious dates, best farm, top farmer, and best decorated date display.

Winners will receive a total of AED 8.735 million in prizes.

The event will showcase the highest quality local dates and related products cultivated in the UAE. It aims to promote sustainable agriculture, support local farmers, and preserve Emirati cultural heritage. The festival also offers a valuable platform for marketing and exchanging innovative agricultural ideas.

A wide variety of dates – ripe, semi-ripe, and unripe – differing in taste, size, and color, will be featured in attractive arrangements. In addition, dried dates, superior date palm saplings, and various date-based products such as juice, halwa, jam, vinegar, pickles, and salted varieties will be on display.

Handicrafts made from date palm fronds will also be featured, along with locally grown fruits such as mangoes, oranges, and lemons.

The festival will be further enriched with a lineup of cultural performances and entertainment programs.
