Amazon Prime: Mirzapur 2 release update is here

The wait is over, as the second season of Amazon Prime’s much-celebrated web series Mirzapur titled Mirzapur 2 will have its premiere on October 23. Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu Sharmaa, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, and Harshita Gaur who played crucial roles in the first season will reprise their characters in the second season too. According to reports, the new addition in the second season’s star cast will be Vijay Varma, Priyanshu Painyuli, Isha Talwar, Amit Sial, and Anjum Sharma.

Mirzapur 2 is created and developed by Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna, and it is bankrolled by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. Just like its first season, Mirzapur 2 will portray the story based on corruption, crime, and governing failure that prevail in India.

A trailer of Mirzapur 2 was released a couple of weeks back, and it received widespread positive reviews from all corners. The trailer indicated that the second part of this web series is more intense and power-packed.

For Amazon Prime, the success of Mirzapur 2 will play a crucial role in determining the fate of the OTT platform in India. Post the coronavirus lockdown, Amazon Prime had released several regional movies, but none of them succeeded in marking their presence felt.

Moreover, Amazon Prime Video is now facing huge competition from Disney’s Hotstar, especially due to the number of Bollywood and South Indian movies in their database.
