449 people confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on July 13

On July 13, 449 people were confirmed with COVID-19. It was for the fourth consecutive day that over 400 people are being confirmed with the infection. A total of 162 patients were cured of the infection. Of the total number of infected 140 arrived from outside the country, while 64 arrived from other States. One hundred and forty-four people got infected through contact, according to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Two deaths were recorded in the State on the day. Thygarajan who died in Kollam district and Ayesha who died in Kannur whose test results came on July 13 showed that they were infected with COVID-19. The death rate was 0.39 per cent in the State.
Of the infected, the sources of infection are not known for 18 people. Five health workers were also infected on the day. In Kannur, 10 DSC Jawans got infected and in Alappuzha, 77 ITBP personnel were confirmed with Sars corona virus. There are now 51 COVID clusters including two large ones in the State.
The district-wise number of infected on the day are as follows: 119 in Alappuzha district, 63 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 47 each in Malappuram and Pathanamthitta districts, 44 in Kannur district, 33 in Kollam district, 19 Palakkad district, 16 in Kozhikode district, 15 in Ernakulam district, 14 in Wayanad district, 10 in Kottayam district, nine each in Thrissur and Kasargod districts, and four in Idukki district.
