A photograph of Shashi Tharoor, Thiruvananthapuram MP, and Meera Nair, film director and writer, playing the role of Antony and Cleopatra during college days is going viral on social media.
The incident took place in the early 1980s when Meera Nair was a student of Miranda House in Delhi and Shashi Tharoor was at St. Stephens. There was an understanding between these two colleges that they would support each other by sending actors and actresses when performing plays. An old black-and-white photograph in which they acted together has surfaced now.
After completing college Mira Nair took up cinema as her vocation and became known in world cinema, Mr. Tharoor reached the United Nations and became a world celebrity. The play also features the famous social anthropologist Susan Viswanathan.
