PAN card is a document used as an identity card for many purposes. There is a facility to put it in the wallet. If the wallet is lost under any circumstances, other documents similar to PAN card may also be lost. At the same time, if the PAN card is lost or damaged, it can be easily reprinted online.

PAN card is issued through UTITSL and NSDL-TIN agencies. A reprint of the PAN card can be obtained by contacting the issuing agency. Reprints can be applied for through the online portals of UTITSL and NSDL. Go to the card issuing agency’s portal and click on the ‘Reprint PAN Card’ link. A copy of the PAN card will be available at your address if you submit the application after providing the required information.

Both agencies charge Rs. 50 / – for sending a copy of PAN card to any address in India. Outside India, the fee is Rs.959. The PAN card will be sent only to the address given in the documents of the Income Tax Department.

A paper copy of PAN card is not required to be kept as per the amended Income Tax Act. Agencies like UTITSL and NSDL-TIN also provide e-PAN. These are considered to be the equivalent of a PDF file in the form of a PAN issued. That is, if the PAN card is required as an identification card for any purpose, it is sufficient to show the PDF file.

PAN card number and date of birth should be recorded at the time of application for reprint. With NSDL Aadhaar number is also required. NSDL is requesting the Aadhaar number as it is mandatory to link it with the PAN.

Aadhaar and PAN numbers can be easily linked through the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal. Aadhaar number and PAN number can be linked by going to the link Click here

Individuals should go to the above link and enter their Aadhaar and PAN numbers and the name on the Aadhaar card on the website. The connection will be completed with the approval of the UIDAI, which oversees the Aadhaar cards.

Although there are slight differences between the names of Aadhaar and PAN, the system is such that they can be connected. The numbers can be easily linked by entering the Aadhaar OTP (One Time Password). The OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number and e-mail address of the individual. At the same time, if there are significant differences between the names of Aadhaar and PAN, the Aadhaar or PAN database will have to be changed.
