Various emirates plan New Year gala

Our Correspondent

The magnificent New Year’s Eve gala that Dubai is well-known for will take place in Downtown Dubai – the heart of Dubai with several iconic mixed-use complexes and buildings – and will simultaneously be broadcast live globally. It will also be live-streamed on mydubainewyear.com for those unable to make it to the show.

Emaar, the master developer of the Burj Khalifa, has collaborated with Zoom Video Communications, to host New Year’s Eve celebrations live from Downtown Dubai in a global Zoom video call.

Up to 50,000 people from around the world will be invited to tune in to the first-ever New Year’s Eve celebration to be hosted on Zoom.

Emaar NYE 2021 will be broadcast live globally on Zoom from 8:30 pm GST (+4 GMT) onwards, featuring a grand masterpiece of fireworks, light and laser show in Downtown Dubai.

To access the live event on Zoom, registration is required through the following link

Master-developer Nakheel has initiated measures to manage a potential increase in traffic on Palm Jumeirah on 31st December.
Since it is one of the UAE’s most popular venues for New Year celebrations, Nakheel is working closely with the Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality and RTA to prioritise safety and convenience, and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Visitors to the island are encouraged to reach early at the venues and to use public transport such as The Palm Monorail or taxis. Nakheel said that daily discounts to and from The Pointe, home to the recently launched world’s largest fountain, are available with Careem until January 1, 2021, with the code THEPALMFOUNTAIN.

Nakheel is doubling the festive season shuttle buses from Nakheel Mall to The Pointe on New Year’s Eve, with free rides from 7 pm to 3 am.

Hotels, retail outlets and restaurants have been asked to schedule catering deliveries early, provide adequate parking and inform their guests to plan their journeys in advance. Food deliveries will be allowed up until 5 pm.

This year, the Burj Khalifa will be hosting extravagant pyrotechnic shows and a water-music dance at The Dubai Fountain along with the fireworks. The New Year’s Eve spectacle can also be watched at the Dubai Festival City creekside and restaurants, Burj Al Arab, Atlantis the Palm, The Beach opposite JBR, and Global Village.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE capital Abu Dhabi is set to host record-breaking fireworks at Al Wathba spanning over 35 minutes and breaking two Guinness World Records. Residents and tourists can usher in 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Festival with the spectacular firework show.
Residents of Abu Dhabi and the UAE will also be able to enjoy fireworks show over Yas Island with a range of different viewing options available, including from restaurants in Yas Marina.

Ras Al Khaimah: The Organising Committee for Ras Al Khaimah New Year’s Eve Celebrations has announced its preparations for welcoming 2021, with fireworks in various shapes and themes rising above the sea near Al Marjan Island, over a 4-km stretch; there will be special musical arrangements for a total of 10 minutes to welcome the New Year.

#RAKNYE2021 will be held without public activities or viewing areas to ensure the safety of the public, while adhering to social distancing protocols.

Since the celebration of New Year coincides with the weekend, all hotels in Al Hamra Village and Al Marjan Island will feature dedicated viewing areas for families celebrating the occasion. Only hotel guests, residents, ticket holders of special events and diners of surrounding restaurants will have access to these areas, in addition to essential hotel staff and operational teams responsible for organising the fireworks. The celebrations will be telecast live on television networks, social media channels and at raknye.com.

The Organising Committee is taking all precautionary measures in coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention. There will be real-time follow-up on the visitor density at all hotels in Al Hamra Village and Al Marjan Island. Every attendee must follow safety guidelines such as wearing masks and adhering to social distancing.

Ras Al Khaimah made history with the New Year’s Eve Gala of 2020, which won the Guinness World Records titles for the ‘Most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Launching Fireworks Simultaneously’ and the ‘Longest Fireworks Waterfall’ in the presence of Official Adjudicators from Guinness World Records.

Sharjah: This year, the Al Majaz Amphitheater in Sharjah will host an epic fireworks show to welcome 2021. ‏Advance booking is required in order to dine at the restaurants near the Sharjah Musical Fountain.
