ROME : In a significant diplomatic development, the United States and Iran have resumed nuclear negotiations in Rome, with Oman serving as the key mediator. The latest round of talks comes after a tense fourth session in Muscat, where public disagreements emerged over Tehran’s uranium enrichment program.
This fifth round of negotiations, held in the Italian capital, is focused on exploring peaceful resolutions and rebuilding mutual trust between the two nations. Delegations from both countries are expected to engage in substantive discussions aimed at addressing critical issues, particularly those related to Iran’s nuclear activities.
The ongoing dialogue, which first began in April, marks the most direct and high-level bilateral engagement since the United States withdrew from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) under the administration of former President Donald Trump in 2018.
Observers view the renewed talks as a cautious but meaningful step toward de-escalation and the possible revival of a broader framework for nuclear cooperation and regional stability.
